Complete Non-woven Fabric Line for Wool
MPI supplied and installed a complete laboratory-scale non-woven production line for the Department of Textile Engineering at BUITEMS, covering fiber preparation through web formation, needle punching and finished-roll handling.
Project in brief
An integrated line for teaching, process development and textile research
The requirement called for a coordinated sequence of machines rather than a single standalone unit. MPI delivered the equipment chain needed to open fiber, meter and feed it, form a web, cross-lap the web, mechanically bond it and prepare the finished material for handling.
The project record includes equipment supply, installation, commissioning and operational training, giving the laboratory a practical route for studying the main stages of non-woven production.
Delivered configuration
Project specification and technical scope
The values below describe the published configuration delivered for this project. A new system can be configured against the buyer's required capacity, materials, controls, utilities, layout and compliance needs.
Fiber preparation
- Pre-fiber opener
- Approx. 400 mm machine width; recorded 20–50 kg/h capacity; approx. 5 kW power; magnetic metal-impurity protection.
- Feeding machine
- Approx. 500 mm machine width; recorded 20–50 kg/h capacity; 2.25 kW power; constant-weight photoelectric control and vibrating plate.
Web formation
- Carding machine
- 500 mm working width; approx. 500 mm cylinder; recorded output around 3 kg/h; anti-metal protection.
- Cross lapper
- 500 mm input apron and 1,000 mm output apron; approx. 5 kW total power; frequency-controlled web laying.
Bonding and finishing
- Needle-punching machine
- 1,000 mm working width; 55–60 mm needle stroke; upstroke/downstroke configuration for non-woven development.
- Winding and cutting
- 1,000 mm machine width; recorded line speed 1–15 m/min; 1.5 kW power; width and length cutting for roll preparation.
MPI project scope
What MPI coordinated and delivered
- Reviewed the laboratory requirement and coordinated the multi-machine line configuration.
- Supplied the fiber-opening, feeding, carding, cross-lapping, needle-punching and winding/cutting equipment.
- Managed installation and commissioning with factory-trained technical support.
- Provided operational and maintenance training for the university team.
Delivered value
Project outcome
Complete process route
The laboratory received a connected equipment chain covering the principal stages from loose fiber to wound non-woven material.
Hands-on research access
Students and researchers can work with practical opening, web-forming, layering, bonding and finishing operations.
Operational handover
Installation, commissioning and training were included so the equipment could move into supervised laboratory use.
