Yarn Winding Machine rewinds filament or spun yarn from a supply package into a controlled cone or cheese package for knitting, weaving, dyeing, twisting or downstream processing. Marjan Polymer Industries supplies configurable multi-spindle precision winding systems in Pakistan with application-matched traverse, tension, overfeed and oiling controls.
Winding Process
Controlled Unwinding
Supply-package holders, guides and optional balloon control feed yarn consistently into each position.
Tension & Overfeed
Mechanical or electronic tensioning and driven overfeed help manage delicate, elastic or low-friction yarns.
Package Formation
Independent traverse and spindle drives build cylindrical or tapered packages with selected length, angle and density.
Reference Six-Spindle Configuration
The values below describe the existing reference specification and are qualified by yarn trial. They are not universal guarantees for every yarn or package.

| Package size | Up to about 250 mm traverse width; tube and outside diameter selected by project |
| Winding drive | 180 W reference spindle motor |
| Traverse drive | 50 W reference independent traverse motor |
| Overfeed drive | 60 W reference motor where fitted |
| Tension / oiling drives | 5 W class reference auxiliary motors where fitted |
| Installed power | Approximately 300 W per reference position, excluding common auxiliaries |
| Electrical supply | Configured for the customer’s site voltage, frequency and phase |

- Individual or central tension control
- Overfeed and waxing/oiling equipment
- Yarn-break sensor and automatic stop

Package Engineering
A stable package requires correct crossing angle, winding ratio, taper, edge build, density and tension profile. Too much tension can damage elongation or dyeability; too little can create sloughing, soft edges or unstable unwinding. Electronic traverse allows the package recipe to be tuned without mechanical cams on suitable designs.
Applications
Knitting Preparation
Uniform cones for circular, flat, hosiery and warp-knitting supply.
Weaving Preparation
Rewound packages for warping, doubling, twisting or weft preparation.
Soft Winding
Open, permeable packages for yarn dyeing when the machine and recipe are designed for the required density.
Post-Dye Rewinding
Final packages after dyeing, drying or conditioning, with controlled tension and optional waxing.
Technical Textiles
Specialist filament, coated, conductive and composite reinforcement yarn handling.
Laboratory & Sampling
Small-position systems for development lots, quality work and process trials.
Controls and Safety
- Variable-speed spindle and traverse drives with controlled acceleration
- Emergency stop and correctly rated overload protection
- Guarding of rotating shafts, belts, pulleys and electrical enclosures
- Yarn-break stop and package-overdiameter protection where specified
- Secure package holders and safe doffing method
- Earthing and electrical components matched to the mill environment
Production and Acceptance Testing
Acceptance should use the customer’s representative yarn, feed package and target tube. Checks include stable running, actual speed, tension variation, traverse length, package mass and dimensions, edge quality, hardness profile, unwinding behaviour and yarn damage. Output is reported per spindle for the approved recipe.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a yarn winding machine?
It rewinds yarn from one package into a controlled cone or cheese package with the tension, traverse and density needed for downstream textile processing.
Which yarns can the machine wind?
Suitable configurations can handle cotton, viscose, polyester, nylon, FDY, DTY, elastic and specialist yarns. Guide finish, tension and overfeed must match the exact yarn.
What winding speed is available?
The reference system can be configured up to about 1,200 m/min, but practical speed depends on yarn quality, supply package, package size, tension stability and end-use requirements.
How many winding spindles are supplied?
The reference machine uses six positions. Alternative spindle counts and modular layouts can be designed against production and floor-space requirements.
Can it make cone and cheese packages?
Yes. Cylindrical cheese and selected tapered cone packages can be supported when the tube, holder, traverse and package geometry are specified.
Can it produce soft packages for dyeing?
A suitable precision-winding configuration can produce softer, permeable packages, but density uniformity must be proven using the customer’s yarn and dye-package requirements.
Does each spindle stop on yarn break?
Individual yarn-break detection and stop can be included. The final sensor type is selected for yarn count, colour, speed and machine configuration.
Can winding tension be controlled electronically?
Yes, depending on the machine design. Electronic tension, overfeed and programmable traverse are available options for sensitive or technically demanding yarns.
Does MPI install winding machines in Pakistan?
Yes. Scope can include installation, commissioning, yarn trials, recipe setup, operator training and maintenance guidance.
What is needed for a quotation?
Provide yarn samples/specification, supply package, target tube and package, speed, positions, tension/overfeed options, site power, floor space and production target.
